Marina is looking to break up the mundanity of her global stardom when in London, because what else is there for an award winning actress to do other than to make her own fun? Marina sees Anna working behind the bar and her target is set. She will make her fall in love with her, it won’t be difficult, the rest of the world loves her! She’s mega famous, the world is in the palm of her hand. But what everyone doesn’t know, what the public doesn’t see, is how cruel, menacing and calculated Marina really is.
This novel was so much fun! Marina is a riot, she’s a whirlwind, and as the story unfolds she gets more and more unhinged, straying from her carefully curated image as reality feels too far out of reach. I found it got more and more absurd, the lengths Marina went to in order to be noticed by this girl when the whole world adores her. It was also interesting how the novel explored celebrity culture and our fascination with fame. Through multi-media clippings from forums and articles, it was a fully immersive experience.
