Review of Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare

Sword Catcher is an adult fantasy debut and is completely spellbinding, it contains all the glorious elements that will keep you strapped to your seat and hooked to every single word that Cassandra has penned. We are immediately drawn into the world of Castellane, where the nobles live and magic is ostracised. We meet orphan Kel who is taken from his life at an orphanage to be trained as the body double for Prince Conor. His new life as a Sword Catcher has one purpose, but would Kel die to save Conor’s life? The world-building in Sword Catcher is quite like nothing I’ve read before. Cassandra has created this world to a tee, from all the characters to the inner politics and hierarchies.

With a shiny new life, does Kel yearn for more? When Kel stumbles into a forbidden romance, AND a web of criminality and conspiracy that’s running underground by the Ragpicker king, can himself and Lin, an ostracised magical being, save their kingdom before chaos swallows it whole? I adored this world, the danger of it, the romantic element and the way it all perfectly came together - I cannot wait to read The Ragpicker King, I need it now!
