When DI Diane Walker finds herself investigating a grisly murder of a Sheffield headmaster and her colleagues are unsupportive of her theories, she must follow her gut to brush away the secrets of the area’s neglected underbelly. First off, DI Walker, a strong female lead who not only holds her own in such a male-led field but shows both strength and empathy, will fast become a reader favourite. As Walker delves deeper into the case at hand, she begins to uncover crimes that have been silenced, and along with it Nina Bhadreshwar explores and examines some really dark and sinister themes that genuinely had my jaw on the floor when all was revealed. The Day of the Roaring is a brilliant first slice of crime procedural thriller with some hard-hitting and thought-provoking themes which will have you frightened but too engrossed to look away!
